Those two applications are amazing. Why ?

Spotify

Spotify it’s a music streaming application with WIndows and OSX clients, and it works ok with Wine under Linux. You can choose out of tree plans:

  • Free – You can access all tracks but You will have to listen to adds once a while which is not that bad after all, it’s still better than radio ;)
  • Day pass – No adds for a day – £0.99
  • Premium – No adds, higher sound quality, exclusive access to pre-releases and concert ticket lotteries and travel access – £9.99/month.

You need to create account, then install it and search for your favourite music. Spotify lacks of some musicans and bands that decided not to allow Spotify to stream their music and it’s only available in US and some EU countries.

The only way to save your favourite artists is to save play lists, IMHO it should let you save your favourite bands and musicians for easy access and have features like “similar music” etc. Well, maybe some day. For now I just love that I can listen all that music for free and discover new artists.

Dropbox

I was looking for that my whole life ! Easy, reliable, multi-platform syncing application.

Get a free 2GB account, install client on your PC or Mac and put your files in Dropbox folder. Then install client on your second PC/Mac and your files will sync with dropbox so you will always see same content on all your machines. Excellent solution for Home <=> Work shared files.

Dropbox it’s the best app I found since a long time and both Windows and Linux clients I use are excellent.

Following price plans are available:

  • Basic – Free, 2GB storage
  • Pro 50 – $9.99 pcm, 50GB storage
  • Pro 100 – $19.99, 100GB storage

2GB is more than I need.

I was quite surprised how fast it is to sync when You make a change to file and it syncs to other machines. Plus You can restore removed files, share files and phots with friens, family and anyone else by public links, nice !
